It’s easy to read a lot into a picture, but in the case of this
photograph of Adele and Chris Brown taken
at the Grammys, it was too much.
The Twittersphere lit up Monday after the photo emerged of
Adele, her mouth agape, appeared to be saying something to a contrite-looking
Chris Brown. Many assumed the British singer was taking Brown to task for not
standing to applaud Frank Ocean when
he won best urban contemporary album.
But, on Tuesday, Adele denied there was any showdown. “Chris
Brown and I were complimenting each other in that photo actually,” she wrote on Twitter.
Ocean and Brown got into a beef outside a West Hollywood,
Calif., recording studio last month.
A week later, Ocean said he would not press charges against
Brown, who allegedly punched him, according to The Associated Press.
“As a child, I thought if someone jumped me it would result in
me murdering or mutilating a man,” Ocean wrote on his Tumblr.
“But as a man I am not a killer. I’m an artist and a modern person. I’ll choose
sanity. No criminal charges.
No civil lawsuit. Forgiveness, albeit trite, is wisdom.”
